The Kobo Aura is a pretty good e-book style
table with a fairly cool Linux based user interface, small but not
too small, and light. The screen is e-ink based so it is legible but
low-contrast. It supports adding third party books, and supports
many formats, and even has a web browser. Unfortunately trhe
functionality of the both the local and online books catalogs is
something I really dislike, suited only for small numbers (up to a
dozen or two) of books, which especially for the online catalog is
way too low. Unfortunately this means that browsing for books to
rent is very inefficient. The books rented from the Kobo shop are
subject to high levels of copyright management, which makes them
poor value compared to a printed book.
